Hand of G-d or Hand of McGahn? Was the Donald really that close to going all in for firing Robert Mueller? Was Donald McGahn trying to save the Trump presidency or was he just realizing that he was about to lose his lawyer's license? Meanwhile, since then, Trump and his pathetic, dissembling minions have done nothing but lie about what was clearly about to become the young administration's Armageddon, atomic dumpster fireball moment.
Speaking of Armageddon, is it any coincidence that the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists recently moved the Doomsday Clock to End of the World closer to midnight by 2 minutes? Maybe they made the change after realizing that it's highly likely, if not probable, that our petulant little man-child will get his nose rubbed out of joint and then use his fidgety, stubby little fingers to send us all to Kingdom Come.
But I digress...
Republicans in Congress have all sent Kimberly-Clark's stock soaring to new highs as they can't buy enough Depends as Mueller strengthens his case on proving the Trump campaign/administration's collusion with the Russians and subsequent obstruction of justice. In the meanwhile, they are content to denigrate Mueller, his team, the FBI and any other justice sector institution or representative who dares to cast doubt on the innocence of their crotch grabbing, Putin man crushing, political agenda advancing sugar daddy.
So...let's see if some of these so-called Republican "moderates" cross the aisle and band together with their Democratic counterparts to salvage what remains of our democratic norms and institutions of governance. If they do, it might just be due to the hand of G-d.

Bloody Vikings
Here we are in hour 18 of the Government Shutdown of 2018. How the heck did we get here anyway? It's pretty simple. The Donald and his marauding band of white supremacist Republicans decided that it was more important to bleach out our population with blatantly racist immigration policies than to pass a federal budget. This move comes after they had already done away with the Temporary Protective Status for hundreds of thousands Central Americans and Haitians who had fled their homes after natural disasters and violent conflict, much of which we, ahem, helped to instigate and fund. And more recently, Trump began refocusing ICE's jack-booted thugs' efforts to shift away from nabbing criminals to tearing apart families of undocumented immigrants.
They're a bunch of real humanitarians...
So, I just thought it would be poetic justice to give them a taste of what they're hoping to achieve with their nativist immigration policy. What if the Norwegians really did show up on shores? No, not the democratic socialist, universal health care supporting, tolerant and humanistic variety. I mean the ones we see in Vikings on the History Channel. What if Ragnar Lothbrok showed up with a few shiploads of his finest Norse raiders and gave the Donald and his fascist flunkies a taste of what they are constantly fantasizing about - to repopulate this country with Norse übermenschen and überfrauen? I'd pay good money to watch that show...except, of course, it would probably be the shortest episode of the series.
Okay, I digress...here's the 'toon:

One Year and Over 2,000 Plus Lies Later
Has it only been a year so far? When do we all get to wake up from this nightmare? Well, at least he hasn't started a nuclear war...yet. Talk about setting the bar low...sheesh.
My better half told me that this cartoon was pretty hardcore. Darn tootin' it's hardcore. Donald Trump is one hardcore unmitigated disaster for humanity, especially if you have the misfortune of being a racial or ethnic minority. I don't know how Trump gives Jared Kushner a pass or how he forgave his daughter for marrying him, never mind converting to Judaism. But you cannot deny that Donald Trump is a white supremacist and nazi sympathizer. Remember how he couldn't even bring himself to condemn the Charlottesville tiki torch bearing alt-righters and neo-Nazis?
Oh, and in case we doubt his authoritarian sympathies, how do you explain his man crush for every last one of the world's "strong men"? It's almost cartoonish...which is why...I guess...I've inked a cartoon. Well, never mind.
Absence certainly makes the heart grow fonder. I had and still have real issues with Barack Obama, but this blog isn't about him or how (I believe) he let our country down. I'm only bringing him up, because his transgressions pale in comparison to Trump's all out onslaught on our country's governance institutions and political norms. And yet he's no aberration; that's patently false. Rather, he's only the logical culmination of where the Republican party has been heading for the past 50 years ever since the inception of Nixon's "Southern strategy": unbridled, weaponized racism.
Throw in some gratuitous crotch-grabbing, child molestation and a systematic sell out to the world's oligarchs, including and especially Vladimir Putin, and voilà! Ladies and gentlemen I bring you the GOP of the 21st century in all of its splendorous glory.

Oh No He Didn't...
Oh, yes he did. Of course he did. Why wouldn't he? Our glorious leader, aka, the Grand Wizard of Deplorable Nation, decided that if he can't reverse current demographic trends - remember whites become a minority in 15 years - then at least he can bleach our national immigration policy and prevent more people of color from entering the US, especially those coming from, you know, those shithole countries.
Right, so, where to start? First, irony of ironies, Trump and his Grabbing Ol' Pedophile party are using this and other white racist policies to wreck the country and turn us into the world's #1 shithole nation, or should I say the world's indispensable shithole. Second, let's take a little look at the history of some of these so-called shithole countries. Hmmm...well golly! Looks like one of the things they all have in common is that the United States played a major role in miring them into decades of poverty, violent conflict and inequality. What between our invasions, decades-long occupations, underwriting of deadly civil wars, and just garden variety exploitation by our official Ambassadors of Ill Will, U.S. multinational corporations, we really put them behind the proverbial blackball.
Third and finally, can we just dispense with this crap line that Trump's toadies and Republicans - sorry, that's redundant - love to roll out every time he manages to stick his foot in it? I mean this notion that he didn't really say what he said, or (once it's clear that he did) that he didn't really mean it to be racist. No, he just tells as it is, you know, dishing out a little hard talk so that he can keep people on their toes. As our previous president was fond of saying, "let me be clear," there's absolutely nothing truthful or hard about using the language of white supremacy. What it is is hateful, cowardly, and a horrible thing to do to a fellow human being. But, what else would you expect from Trump? He's just a shitty old man living in no shithole for old men.
